Out With The Old And In With The New

Second chances, that is something everyone wants.  When we sin against someone we ask for forgiveness and often will ask for a "Second chance."  The best thing of all is God is full of "Second Chances."  Not only will He give us another chance here in this life in this world but He will give a new life and a new world.  He will give us the ultimate second chance when He establishes "a new heaven and a new earth."

Jesus came to give us that second chance for everlasting life.  In John 8:6-11:

⁶They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.

⁷ When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” ⁸ Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

⁹At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. ¹⁰ Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

¹¹“No one, sir,” she said.

"Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Jesus gives not only this woman a second chance at life but each one of us.  John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."  This does not give us permission to sin but it does offer unlimited second chances in this life.  Someday we will arrive in the new heaven and the new earth that we will no longer need a second chance.  It is then that God will establish a new order.  

Revelation 21:4 "He will wipe every tear from their eyes.  There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
