His Guiding Light

Scripture:
Romans 12:1-5
(NASB)

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

Devotional:

Pilots landing on an aircraft carrier use what is nicknamed “Meatball” to safely land on the deck.  As the aircraft approaches they will see a light on the left side of the deck.  As long as the light is white they are good.  If they rise too high or too low the light color changes.  The “meatball” helps guide them in at the right angle and height.  The light helps to guide them in safely.

Are you seeing “the Light?”  Christ is the Light of the world.  As long as we are focused on Him we will see His guiding Light.  After we accept Christ as our saviors we are no longer the same person we once were.  Changes do not happen overnight.  We are not instantly perfect creatures never to sin again.  As we continue in this life we must keep our focus on God.  We must constantly be renewing ourselves spiritually.  As long as we are on approach and see His Light we know we are on the right track.  We will be an acceptable living and holy sacrifice to Him and His will.  When we fail to keep our focus on the Light of the world our view of it changes.  Just as a pilot’s view of the “meatball” changes when his approach is off.  The pilot knows to lift or lower his plane according to his view of the “meatball.”  We too know that we have to refocus on God when our view of Him changes.  Are you focused on God?  Do you see His Light clearly?  Or has the light changed colors or gotten dimmer?  Refocus on God and see His light grow brighter…
