How Many Hats...

Scripture:
Revelation 5:9-10
(NASB)

And they *sang a new song, saying,

“Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

“You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.”

Devotional:

How do you look at yourself?  Who are you and how many hats do you wear?  Amy Grant has a song that is about all the different hats we wear.  I am a father, a husband, a brother, a son just to name a few.  One hat we all wear is that of priesthood.  We are in the body of Christ, a ‘royal priesthood’ in God’s kingdom.  This isn’t something in the future but here and now.  We are ambassadors and representatives of His kingdom here on earth.

You may not feel like one.  You might not think you are one.  However, the truth is that if you are in the body of Christ, a believer, you are one of God’s priests.  Our task is simple, spread the kingdom.  We are to show the way to the kingdom of heaven.  It is our job to minister to the communities around us.  Everything a priest in the Old Testament did we are to do as well.  OK there is one exception; we do not have to perform sacrifices.  Jesus was the final and complete sacrifice for all.  It is our job to share that fact with the world.  It is our job to show the way, be a light and a royal priesthood…
