Difficulties and Disappointments

Scripture:
Matthew 1:18-25

Joseph the earthly father of Jesus was faced with a critical decision.  After finding out his fiancée was pregnant just knew she had been unfaithful.  After all it was impossible for her to be pregnant without having been with a man.  She had been unfaithful to him and to God.  He was considering dismissing his wife to be quietly, with as little disgrace as possible.  An angel spoke to Joseph in a dream.  It was now crunch time, to listen to the angel and accept the impossible, or go with the worldly view?  A question we all face from time to time.  As we know Joseph was a man of God and followed God’s will for his life.  Joseph married Mary and raised Jesus as his son.

When faced with difficult decisions who do we turn to?  Do we listen to God?  So often we just go with the flow or look at things from a worldly perspective.  Instead we need to listen to God.  We need to hear what He is saying to us.  Then it is important to follow His lead.  God’s plan is so much better than ours.  His ways turn out so much better than my ways.  I find if I just wait upon Him things turn out so much better.  The question to ask is how we react to different and disappointing circumstances in our lives.  Do we look at them with worldly views seeking answers from our perspective?  Instead we should seek God’s perspective and look to Him.  Approaching difficulties and disappointments from a Godly perspective will make getting through it a little bit easier.  Through Christ we have hope.  If we have hope we have something to look forward to.  Without hope all is lost…
