Stopping For Directions

Scripture:

Have you ever stopped to ask for directions somewhere? The person tells you where to go but you just stare blankly at them. Go down this street and turn when you see the red barn. Go down a ways till you see the oak tree and turn right. It is the fourth house, can't miss it. Six extra miles down the road you still haven't found the red barn. At other times you ask for directions and they respond, I am going that way just follow me. How much easier it is to get where you are going.

How many times do we attempt to witness and people get a glazed look in their eyes? We just spout out words with no meaning behind them. The person we are talking to walks away just as empty. How much more is it to show them than to just spout out words. Each of us is called to witness. We are to spread the good news about Jesus to anyone and everyone. In Acts 1:8 we are told that the Holy Spirit will empower us. I have always thought the best witness is that of example. Let others around us see Christ in us. Let them see something different. Then when the Holy Spirit prompts us we will be able to speak to them about Jesus. We will not just be spouting words but sharing our lives with them. Instead of spouting directions we can show them the way. When others see Christ in us just maybe their hearts will be softened to the prompting of the Holy Spirit...
