Who Is Bigger?

Scripture:
1 Kings 8:22-24
(NIV)

“Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way. You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised and with your hand you have fulfilled it as it is today.

Devotional:

Have you ever paused to wonder how awesome and big our God really is?  We can look at someone and think that they are big or small.  We compare their size to our own.  Some of us have small houses and some large ones.  My house compared to a one or two bedroom home is big.  But in comparison to some of the mansions in California, or castles in Europe, my house is rather small.  It is all a matter of perspective.  I live in a small town in a small state.  Well the state is small in comparison to the entire nation or world for that matter.  We think this planet is large; after all it is three thousand miles across the United States alone.  Compare the earth to the sun and it is rather small.  Our sun is small compared to other stars that are out there in the huge expanse of space.

God who breathed the stars into existence, who created the heavens and the earth with just his words, is bigger than what we can comprehend.  How can we even begin to compare ourselves to Him?  We would be like a firecracker, a small bang that can do very little damage.  God is greater than the power of every bomb or explosive combined.  There is no comparison.  The firecracker just can’t compete.

My question is how is it that we can think we are bigger than He is.  It is like the ant saying I am bigger than a person.  God is so much more than what we can even imagine.  Yet people tend to think that they can do it better.  People want to believe they are on top and in control.  We can be blind to the truth.  We fail to see God for who He really is.  Satan has done anything and everything he can to blind us to who God really is.  He wants us to think we are on top.  As I grow in faith, I realize how little I am and how little I know.  I realize how much I need God.  God is greater than anything else.  If God is with us, who can stand against us?  If God is for us, who can overcome us?  The answer is nothing.  Nothing can overcome God.  Nothing can stand against God.  There are only two sides to life.  You are either for God, or against God.  Which side do you want to be on?
