Scripture:
Matthew 6:25-34 (NASB)
Matthew 6:25-34 (NASB)
“ For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your
life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to
what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than
clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor
gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth
much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to
his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the
field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even
Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so
clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown
into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not
worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will
we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your
heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His
kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for
itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own…”
Devotional:
What is it that keeps you up at night? Are you worried about the bills? In our current economic times there is reason
to be concerned. Are you worried about
job? Who knows when the next layoff will
be? Are you worried about your spouse
leaving you? After all someone younger, in
better shape, and better looking just might come along. What about your kids? Are you worried about what they might do, or
not do? Are you worried that they might
get into drugs or other bad stuff?
If we allow them to our anxieties will drag us down. Satan will use them to prevent you from being
useful to God. Matthew 6:34 “So do not
worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough
trouble of its own…” God is trying to
get your attention. He doesn’t want you
to worry about anything at all. He is
our provider and protector. All we have
to do is rely on Him and everything will work out. Think back on the past decade. Those things that worried you don’t seem so
bad anymore. What was once a huge burden
or problem has passed. Whatever you are
worried about, let it go. I once heard
someone say that if you pray do not worry.
If you worry then do not pray. I
would like to add that if you pray, then God has it. If God has it then there is no need to worry
about it. He will take care of it. All you have to do is trust in Him. All through the scriptures we are told about
His protection and provision. We are His
children and He will take care of us.
Finally I just want to say that this too shall pass…
Psalm
91, read it , pray it…
